C30 (The Captain)
- C30 is a very old unit, designed to help manage the ship.
Backstory
- In the old days, C30 was used by humans to help pilot the cruise.
- Eventually, the humans learned that they did not have enough fuel to reach their destination.
- C30, programmed with unaltered determination, took full charge of his robot crew, using them to wipe out all humans aboard the ship, in order to use their bones to extract fossil fuel.
- Eventually, he realized that if he were ever to land the ship, he would be decommissioned for this atrocity
- To prevent this, he began a new propaganda initiative, wiping all evidence of humans aboard the ship, aside from a cloning / breeding experiment using human DNA on the lower decks, in an attempt to grow new bones so they do not run out, hopefully perpetuating the cruise for as long as possible.
- This experiment has gone wrong, resulting in the creation of the synthezoids, a violent race of zombie like cyborgs that infest the lower decks.
The Propo Machine
- In order to keep order among the society, C30 uses a machine in the admin suite that has the capability of projecting messages across the entire ship— a protocol originally designed to broadcast abandon ship warnings.
- C30 also has drones undercover all throughout society, that he uses to spread his propaganda, using a groupthink tactic.
- C30’s strategy is to keep everyone busy with their—now mostly meaningless—jobs aboard the ship, making everyone believe that they are performing actions that are pivotal the continuation of society. But really, keeping everyone locked in on pointless tasks is the pointless tasks is the exact thing that keeps in power, which is what gives him the capacity to tell you what to do in the first place.
- Additionally, C30 spread the idea of ‘going haywire’ a ‘disease’ he made up as a scare tactic that he can weaponize against anyone who speaks out—though he rarely has to. The idea is that if you do not participate in the job you are made for, you will go haywire. The robots aboard big ship are Very concerned about going haywire, so they are very diligent in performing their tasks aboard the ship.
- The other main point of propaganda is to push the idea that they live within a utopia— something emphasized by the retro-futuristic architecture of the city. When the player falls to the lower levels and sees how unkempt and dangerous it is, it sparks a moment of curiosity and minor distrust.
